Spring Forward! Fall Back?
Welcome to a very disorientating time for those of us that are truly creatures of habit. You’ve might have noticed that it’s a little bit darker in the morning and trying to drag yourself out of bed is even more of a struggle. There is a reason for that! During this time of year we are all experiencing a bit of induced “jet lag” so our normal routine and things we do at certain times are off just a wee bit.
How do we go about getting back on track? It's not going to happen overnight like the thievery that stole our precious hour. No, we need to set about righting our ship and batten down the hatches. We do this by, you guessed it, exercise and hydration with a little bit of extra sleep on the side. If it was up to me, I would get a tiger snooze in at work, but currently that’s frowned upon when the rest of the office is working their butts off making everything just so welcoming to you, the patients. So instead, go to bed a little bit early and let your body do its thing, which is correcting your inherent clock or circadian rhythm which is the super type A scheduler of time in your body.
Remember that getting your body back on schedule is a very important thing because certain events in your body occur at very specific times during the day and even when you’re sleeping. So let's get back on track, with exercise, hydration, and some early to bed evenings!!!
Oh, and watch out for the pollen…it's everywhere!
